Receive before
you achieve.

A hurried life can train us to measure our worth by what we accomplish. Before we have done anything useful, we can already feel behind. Paul begins somewhere else: with the grace of God.

Grace is the beginning.

In Ephesians 2:8–9, salvation is described as a gift received through faith, not a reward for our works. Our relationship with God does not begin with a performance that convinces Him to welcome us. It begins with what He has given in Christ.

This does not make our choices unimportant. It changes the ground on which we make them. We are invited to live from grace, not to spend our lives trying to manufacture it.

Purpose follows belonging.

Verse 10 speaks of us as God’s workmanship, created in Christ for good works. Grace and purpose belong together. Service becomes a response to God’s love rather than an attempt to earn it.

Today, that response may be an honest conversation, a task done with care, or the choice to notice someone you would normally pass by. Small acts of faithfulness matter.

Pause and consider.

Where have you confused being productive with being loved? What could change if your next action came from gratitude rather than fear?

A prayer for today.

Father, thank You for receiving me in Christ. Teach me to rest in Your grace and to respond with a willing heart. Give me eyes to see the good You have placed before me today. Amen.
